Greece has experienced a tumultuous financial history. Without diving too deep into the tumult, know that it’s important to have cash on you while traveling around Greece. While most major cities have ATMs and accept cards, many small mom-and-pop shops only accept cash payments. An estimated 50% of Greek citizens smoke. While there is technically a ban on smoking indoors, it is still frequently done. Those with sensitive lungs should be careful during their trip to Greece. Perhaps bring an inhaler or any other devices to assist with healthy breathing.
After you flag a taxi down in Greece, the driver will likely ask you where you’re going before you get in. If the ride suits them, they will agree to drive you and welcome you in their backseat.
