There are two airports in Kathmandu, Nepal: Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA).
TIA is the larger and more popular of the two, handling over 10 million passengers per year. It is located in the city center, just 5 kilometers from Thamel, making it convenient for travelers.
GBIA is located about 20 kilometers from the city center, in Bhairahawa. It is smaller than TIA, but is growing in popularity due to its new international terminal. Currently, GBIA handles around 2 million passengers per year. both airports offer a variety of domestic and international flights.
Kathmandu is a beautiful city with a lot to offer visitors. The best time to visit Kathmandu is from October to November, when the weather is cool and dry. March to April is also a good time to visit, as the temperature starts to warm up but the crowds have not yet arrived. July and August are the busiest months in Kathmandu, as summer is the peak season for tourism. However, this is also the monsoon season, so visitors should be prepared for some rain. December to February is the coldest time of year in Kathmandu, with temperatures often dipping below freezing. However, this is also when the city is at its quietest, so visitors who don’t mind the cold can take advantage of cheaper hotel rates and shorter lines at tourist attractions. No matter when you visit, Kathmandu is sure to impress.
