Andafiavaratra Palace is a beautiful example of Malagasy architecture, and served as the royal palace until 1995. The grounds are well-manicured and surrounded by a stunning moat. Ambohimanga is a hilltop fortress located in central Madagascar. The site was the royal residence of the Merina kings during the 19th century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ambohimanga Royal Hill is surrounded by a moat and has a rampart that runs for over two kilometers.
